The Royal Ontario Museum Selects Gallery Systems for its Collection Management Needs

Gallery Systems is pleased to welcome the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) as the newest member of its TMS user community. Among the world’s leading museums of natural history and world cultures, the ROM will utilize Gallery Systems’ TMS collection management software for its over six million objects.

“It is our great privilege to embark on this relationship with the ROM,” says Jay Hoffman, CEO, Gallery Systems. “As the largest field research center and natural history museum in Canada, the ROM presents an exciting opportunity for us, and we are dedicated to supporting the ROM in managing their collection and sharing it with the community.”

TMS is the foremost collection management software in the world for museums and other cultural institutions. Created with a focus on ease-of-use, TMS gives clients an in-depth view into all aspects of their collection. This includes object, exhibition, shipping, loan, media, conservation, and insurance management. TMS integrates with Gallery Systems’ eMuseum software, which can allow the ROM to easily publish their collections online.

“With 100 years of history behind the museum, we are looking forward to working with Gallery Systems to manage and share our vast collection as we move into our next century,” says Mark Engstrom, Senior Curator and Deputy Director of Collections & Research, ROM. “We believe that Gallery Systems provides the knowledge and support needed to best help us showcase our collection, and that the ROM provides an outstanding opportunity for them to showcase the capability of their outstanding software.”
