Bringing Digital Archives to Life Through Multimedia
See and hear how the Hoover Institution’s digital archives come alive on their eMuseum site through embedded audio and video files. Effortless for casual browsers and academics to navigate, this online collection enhances the research experience and provides quick access to share, cite, and download data in various formats including images optimized for the IIIF standard.
We didn’t need to research if we could implement IIIF, or how to do it. We simply asked Gallery Systems to deploy the latest eMuseum upgrade. They did, and we gained an important new feature: IIIF functionality.

Preserving Global History at Hoover
Housed by the prestigious Stanford University, Hoover Institution Library and Archives is a world-renowned archive of political and economic history. Over 64,000 photos, sound and film recordings, and ephemera—including one of the world’s largest political poster collections—are publicly available thanks to TMS and eMuseum.
Enhancing Research and Access
Online browsing is personalized by a robust search feature, custom navigation displays, and the “Reading Room only” security option that denies access to off-campus users. To facilitate the research process, an archive finding feature also links each object record to its collection guide in the Online Archive of California database.
